About – recipesbymums
Victoria

Hi, my name is
Victoria!

And recipesbymums is my little corner of the internet!

I launched recipesbymums in 2015 while I was juggling nap times and lesson plans. At the time I was a third‑grade teacher in Dallas, and I started scribbling down quick, kid‑friendly meals between grading papers. The first post was a simple one‑pan chicken and rice that got a thumbs‑up from my husband, Mark, and that tiny spark grew into something bigger.

Fast forward to today, the site reaches about 45 000 unique visitors each month and has a mailing list of 12 000 hungry subscribers. I’ve published more than 250 recipes, and in March 2022 Foodie Magazine featured me in their “Home Cook Heroes” round‑up. The community now shares their own tweaks in the comments, and I’ve added a searchable recipe index and a monthly “Meal‑Prep Monday” video series that averages 3 000 views per episode.

I live in Austin, Texas, with Mark and our two energetic kids, Lily (7) and Noah (4). When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me tending to my herb garden, hiking the Hill Country trails, or hunting down the best chocolate‑chip cookie dough at the local farmers market. My favorite kitchen tools are a cast‑iron skillet, a sturdy wooden spoon, and a timer that never seems to go off at the right moment.

One quirky habit I’ve picked up over the years is naming every new recipe after a family member’s inside joke – “Noah’s Nacho Night” and “Lily’s Lemon Loaf” are fan favorites. It keeps the cooking process fun and reminds me why I started this site in the first place: to make everyday meals feel a little more special for the people I love.
